I’ve owned the XP3 for about 6 months and it is an electrical stimulation machine. I am an ex-collegiate athlete (football and track) and our trainer used to use a large version of this to rehab strained muscles. It works by shocking the muscles to get them to fire, which increases blood circulation. Some also say that their body has an immune system response (similar to accupuncture) but I haven’t seen any studies on this. The machine is surprisingly effective… The battery lasts over multiple uses, recharges via usb, and it is quite small.
In my past experience I have found electrical stimulation to be very effective in rehabing sprained ankles, pulled groins, pulled hamstrings, and pulled backs (when used in combination with stretching, strengthening, and ice/heat). My trainer even used it to prevent attrophe on my quads when I hurt ligaments in my knee that prevented me from bending my knee for 6 straight weeks.
Some find the shock feeling to be painful at first but the settings on the XP3 can be easily tuned. I don’t mind the shock anymore and I turn it up pretty high (3 of 4 bars). The pads sometimes lose their stickyness, which reduces the conductivity of the stimulation, but they can be cleaned with water and they are sticky again. Replacement pads are quite cheap on amazon, but I try to use it after a shower to keep them from getting too oily.
My only complaint is that it sometimes takes multiple tries to find an effective placement of the pads to stimulate the right muscles. This can be difficult on my back if I don’t have someone else to help. But overall this is a great product and a proven method of rehabilitation/strengthening.

I had tremendous hip and leg pain prior to using the XPIII. My friend and I went on a trip and I was never able to walk even 5 minutes without stopping because of the excruciating pain. A friend lent me her Hidow and it was a miracle. It has 4 different modes and about 10 strengths. I ordered one immediately. It not only gives me immediate releif, but the pain is becoming less frequent. Now I can go for days and even a week without using it. It has given me my life back!

Like a lot of people, I experienced the Hi-Dow XP3 in Vegas and decided to hunt it down when I returned from my trip. When it works, it’s great, but there seems to be a short in the wires connecting the unit (which feels flimsy) to the pads. If the position changes, it tends to stop working. I usually have to take the plug out and reinsert it a couple of times before it works again. They are proprietary, so you can’t quite go into Radio Shack for a replacement.
The sensation is like your muscles are being flexed or massaged and it really helps with muscle soreness and relaxation. I use it after a trip to the gym or after a long work day to help prevent being sore the next day.
The massage slippers (available through other sellers) are probably a men’s size 8 or 9, but the velcro straps help them stay on pretty well. The sensation from the slippers, which plug into the XP3 unit, is basically just low-grade electrocution. Like with the slippers, when the pads are used anywhere below the calf, it only seems to feel like tingling, rather than muscle stimulation or massage.
Purchasing extra pads is recommended because they do dry out a bit, even with adding moisture and keeping them in a sealed bag.

I bought the XP3 as I am an ex-collegiate rugby athlete and used a similar product for muscle aches and strains. It helps now since I sit at a desk all day and get bad neck and should pain from being tense.
After 1 year with the product it started having a problem charging. I contacted Hi-Dow and they had me ship them the product to be looked over. Less than 2 weeks later I received a brand new product with a great explanation and apology. Apparently mine was one of the earlier versions that had a problem that has since been resolved. It was so refreshing to have such great, hassle-free customer service.
I highly recommend the product as it works great and I highly recommend the company.

I got this massager while walking in Vegas strip. This is the best massager ever, i love the fact that I can put it anywhere in my body. Good buy, looking to purchase pads. Ive had it for almost a year now, no complains so far.
